The Tulsa Metro Chamber has partnered with  the OU-Tulsa Community Engagement Center and Tulsa Public Schools to launch a new program called Career Access College Readiness (CACR) to help students prepare for college upon graduation. 

CACR matches volunteers from the local business community with small groups of seventh and 10th grade students to help them learn about and plan for college through a variety of subjects, including how to apply for college, how to acquire funding for college and knowing which courses to take.

Why do we need CACR?
TPS secondary students are in need of reliable, caring and trained coaches to help develop workplace and college readiness skills for success beyond high school.

Become a CACR coach
The Chamber is currently seeking coaches for CACR, which will launch in January 2011, and invites business professionals to sign up. Coaches are expected to:

• Complete training for the program
• Participate in two classes each month, January-May 2011
• Work with and at the direction of the Teacher Adviser
• No personal contact with students outside the classroom
• Listen to students and develop a rapport in order to help them develop a personal plan for their future
• May help facilitate bringing additional speakers into the classroom as planned with the Teacher Adviser
