U.S. Chamber honors three Tulsa-area companies

Three Tulsa-area businesses are being honored with awards from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce recognizing excellence in small business. The honorees are members of the Tulsa Metro Chamber’s Small Business Council. 

Shannon Wilburn, president and CEO, Just Between Friends Franchise System, Inc., and Jump Technology Services president Denise Brinkmeyer are being honored as 2012 Blue Ribbon Award winners. Cari Marshall, owner, L&M Office Furniture, was selected as a Free Enterprise award winner.

This year’s 75 Blue Ribbon winners were selected from a record number of nationwide applicants and will be honored at America’s Small Business Summit 2012, which will be held from May 21–23 in Washington, D.C. On March 15, seven of the Blue Ribbon recipients will be announced as award finalists, and one will be named the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year during the summit. The winner will be presented with a $10,000 cash prize courtesy of the U.S. Chamber.

Twenty-five honorees were selected for the Free Enterprise award.

Kinnee Tilly, vice president of business retention, expansion and small business for the Tulsa Metro Chamber, said: “It is a tremendous honor for these amazing area companies to receive national recognition for their achievements. Furthermore, this honor really illustrates the strength of our entrepreneurial community.”

Tulsa Mayor Dewey F. Bartlett, Jr., said: “The small business community continues to be a major driver in Tulsa’s economy, and we are glad to have three businesses being recognized at the national level for their efforts in this community.”

The Tulsa Metro Chamber encourages Tulsa-area residents to vote for one of the Tulsa-area Blue Ribbon winners to receive the Community Excellence Award, which is selected by popular vote via the U.S. Chamber website, http://www.uschambersummit.com/ceaaward

Voting takes place March 1-15. The winner is announced at the summit.
