Partners In Education names Asbury United Methodist Church Partner of the Year

Asbury United Methodist Church has been named the 2011-12 Partner of the Year for the Chamber’s Partners In Education program. The award was presented, among others, on Wednesday of last week at the Partners In Education Recognition Reception.

Awards in ten categories honored individuals, businesses, community associations and faith based organizations that are active members of the program for their contributions to the educational needs and success of TPS students.

Asbury was nominated for Partner of the Year by Walt Whitman Elementary School. The nominating form included a six page document detailing Asbury’s commitment to TPS. The church provides over 90 volunteers that serve as test monitors and mentors, in addition to providing emergency clothing, books for each student’s personal library, holiday food baskets, gardening services, gym equipment and coordinating an accelerated reading program.
