Mary Fallin signed House Bill 1381 to establish the “Supplemental Hospital Offset Payment Program” (SHOPP), the number one priority for the Tulsa Metro Chamber and its regional legislative agenda, OneVoice.
“Time and again this session Gov. Fallin has followed through on her commitment to listen and then carefully consider legislation to benefit the state,” said Mike Neal, Tulsa Metro Chamber president and CEO. “Tough decisions are made daily and her experienced leadership is invaluable to the state.”
SHOPP was selected as the number one priority by more 250 attendees at the Chamber’s legislative summit last year and was endorsed by 37 regional partners.
“The Tulsa Metro Chamber and leaders at Saint Francis Health Care System, St. John Medical Center and Hillcrest Health Care System worked diligently these last three years to advocate for this initiative,” said Neal. “Our health care providers stepped up to the plate to pursue previously untapped resources.”
Authored by Rep. Doug Cox, the Chamber has followed the progress of HB 1381 on both the House and Senate floors.
“This is a huge win for Rep. Cox and benchmarks significant progress in both parties in the House and Senate to collaborate on legislation which will make a marked improvement in the quality of healthcare of all Oklahomans,” said Neal.
