Oklahoma college graduates necessary for economic success of state
7.7.2011
A recent article in the Tulsa World written by Mike Neal, president and CEO of the Tulsa Metro Chamber, discusses the importance of college graduates to Oklahoma’s economy and quality.“Our workforce requires an ever-increasing number of workers with post-secondary education at all levels, including, in particular, those with four-year bachelor’s degrees,” said Neal.
According to a study by CEOs for Cities, an independent group of urban leaders from around the United States, an increase of 1 percent in the percentage of Tulsan’s with a bachelor’s degree would result in an economic impact of over $640 million. Called a “talent dividend,” Neal says the Chamber is working with its partners and members to achieve this talent dividend and in turn create a higher-quality work environment for the Tulsa region.
